I am watching Santa for days now. Ever since my package was entered into the UPS (United Parcel Service) system I am watching it. Can’t wait for this package to arrive. I think I refreshed the page at least 10 times today. See what a new laptop computer from Dell makes you go through?

By the way - did you know that Christmas is just around the corner? Just 5.5 months left to go. Better get your shopping done soon.

When working in Information Technology I consider staying up to date with current software critical. I keep track of software and operating system updates and make sure I upgrade fairly quick to have my environment secured and to avoid being hit by viruses or exploits.I recently listened to some other IT folks talking about the latest Microsoft patches that were released and almost fell of my chair laughing and swearing. I mean - I knew they were already behind. Lightyears behind to be exact. But the attitude of these so-called IT professionals just stunned me. Microsoft had announced end of support for certain products and patch levels and these so-called IT professionals had to question the Microsoft representative a couple of times as if this end of support would mean the end of the world to them. How can you work in IT and run into problems with the end of support time line of a Microsoft product? Nobody expects you to be cutting edge, but there are years in a lifecycle of a Microsoft product. Years!!! And these so-called IT professionals fail to plan for upgrades and patching and then struggle when Microsoft finally pulls the trigger?! That is just bad.
Don’t get me wrong. I know many companies are squeezing the last dollar out of a product they pay good money for. But Microsoft publishes end of lifecycle dates years in advance so that businesses can plan. An IT professional is doing a very bad job by not looking at those schedules every once in a while and to plan accordingly. The bad thing here is, that these so-called IT professionals are in charge of their environment and now everyone underneath has to follow their speed. By the way - I could see the Microsoft rep smiling and laughing about these so-called IT professionals, too. She even did me a favor when asking the question about how fast the normal patch installation turnaround time would be. First there was silence - a little too long. You could tell that there was no plan and no tools in place to get the environment patched in a timely fashion and the respondee made something up to not look like an idiot - again, a little too late. Happy patching.

Since Logan was born he was always in the very bottom percentile when it came to weight, length, and head measurement. He was born 4 weeks early due to the placenta not being able to provide enough nutrition and barely brought 4 lbs to the scale. Yesterday he had his 15 month checkup and holy smokes - he is growing in height. The last time he was at 30% for length/height - now he is already at 80% !!!! No wonder he can already see stuff on the table or around the house he is not supposed to see. Well, the bad news is that in regards to weight he is still hovering at 3% (yes, three percent).

The most frustrating thing with Logan is, that he is unpredictable when it comes to feeding. Following a normal schedule he should be hungry, but then he explodes and does not want to eat. Nada. Zero. Nothing. 2 hours later he is so fussy and then suddenly he eats. The problem is, no day is the same. What works one day, does not work the next. I think we need a punching bag in the garage to get rid of the frustrations.
But hey - 2 strollers and a trailer for the bike - no room for a punching bag. Heck, somehow we will survive. Hopefully formula will be on sale more often.

I don’t know how it is where you live, but I get really annoyed by people driving on the left lane on a highway talking on their phone and blocking traffic. While there are different type of people and different cars involved all the time, I always run into the same kind of “offender” over and over again:
The Dwarf in a pickup truck
Colorado has a very high density of SUV type of vehicles registered and on the road. This includes pickup trucks. After running into several situations with pickup trucks either blocking traffic because of going slow (driver usually on the cell phone) or being harassed by a speeding pickup truck (driver usually on the cell phone) or seeing a pickup truck sweering left and right (driver usually on the cell phone) making it impossible to safely pass, I started paying some more attention to the drivers and what type of vehicles were used.
The first common thing I noticed - these are never small pickup trucks. No, a Ford F-150 would not do it - way too small. These are usually Ford F-250 or up type of pickup trucks. No, this is not limited to Ford only - Chevy and especially Dodge pickup trucks are involved, too. Rarely I see a Nissan or Toyota pickup truck “involved”.
The second thing in common - the drivers are small. I mean you can tell - if the driver is barely visible because he is so small, he is usually a pretty small guy. Maybe 5′ 5″ if at all. Don’t believe me? Go to Home Depot and watch the parking lot. Look out for those “unmarked” (no commercial signs) pickup trucks. Some of these guys might even be better off with a stepstool to get back into the lifted pickup truck. Short legs and lifted pickup trucks just don’t fit together that well.
The third thing in common - often these are not commercially marked trucks, but still used by contractors or handymen. You can tell by all the clipboards and paperwork on the dashboard when finally passing these idiots on the highway or when seeing their trucks parked somewhere.
And last but not least - the 4th thing in common: When you see those guys getting out of their truck and they start walking, it looks like they walk like John Wayne after a long day on the horse. Must have been a long, hard ride, eh?!
Anyway - what is it with these small guys driving the biggest pickup trucks available out there? Do you need to prove something by buying the biggest car the smaller you are? And what is it that you need to block the highway all the time when talking on the phone? Why don’t you go onto the left lane and let other’s actually drive while you discuss your stuff on the phone? You look like a dwarf in a pickup truck.
